Challenges

How do I start a challenge?

On the Collect Page, tap on the Challenge cell. Here you'll be able to either start a challenge and share your challenge code with a friend, or enter the challenge code given to you by a friend.

Once we're in a challenge, how do they work?

During an active challenge, the points you and your friend earn will count towards achieving your challenge goal. If you hit the goal, you'll earn the bonus points!

What happens if I don't hit the goal?

If you don't manage to hit the goal, you won't earn the bonus points, but you will keep all the points you earned throughout the challenge.

What happens if I don't hit the goal?

If you don't manage to hit the goal, you won't earn the bonus points, but you will keep all the points you earned throughout the challenge.

What's the "Arrow Icon" represent?

That number reflects your Contribution Ratio. This gives you and your friend an idea of who's carrying the team. If you see a green arrow, you're contributing more points towards the goal. If you see a red arrow, you friend is contributing more points towards the goal - step it up!

Self-Isolation Feature

Do you save our home address?

No. You set your place of self-isolation and that is saved locally on your phone, so no one ever sees it.

My time in isolation doesn't add up.

In order to tell whether or not you are within your place of self-isolation, the app needs to be in the background, but don't worry, this feature uses a very small amount of your battery.

Why don't I see my points!

When you open the app it takes a couple seconds for your points and time in isolation to calculate, but it should show up eventually (under about 5 seconds).

General

Does this app drain battery and/or data?

No. We worked hard to reduce our battery consumption by 94%. On average, LifePoints will account for less than 4% of your total battery usage. Regarding data, once the app is loaded, we don't send any videos / photos, just points (aka: text) , so our payloads are very light.

Do you save my Place of Self-Isolation?

No. We respect your privacy, so we simply store that location locally on your phone. It never gets collected by us. It never gets seen by anyone.

How do you collect lifepoints?

Originally, you earned points for the steps you take each day and the time you spend at your gym. For the time being, we've replaced the gym feature with points for time spent in self-isolation to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

How many points do you get per activity?

You collect 100 lifepoints per 24 hours you spend at your place of self-isolation and 25 points per 1,000 steps you take (maxed at 100 points from steps).

How do I redeem a reward?

Save up your points to purchase a reward from the shop. After you make that purchase you'll see it under a new header (My Rewards) that you can open which will have instructions on how to redeem.

Why do you need location services?

We need access to your location to reward you for spending time at your Place of Self-Isolation. We require location to be set to "Always" to reward you even if the app is in the background.

Why do you need access to Health data?

We only request access to your step count to reward you for this!

I saw a popup of you tracking my location!

Funny enough, that's Apple saving your location. We only every ping your location to compare it to your Place of Self-Isolation. There are no graphs of where you've been in our possession! We don't save any of that. We don't share any of your data.

Why did I get a second request for location?

Due to Apple's new guidelines, apps cannot ask for your location services to be set to "Always" on the first encounter. We can only request it if and when our app calls for it, which is why you get this notification as soon as you leave the app.

I have a Fitbit! Can I sync my steps to LifePoints?

YES! Well, Apple does that for us... Your Fitbit (or other wearable) will deposit the data it collects to your Health app, and this is where we pull our step count.

Settings, Settings, Settings

Location: Always

We need location services set to always to know whether or not you are at your Place of Self-Isolation even when the app is in the background. Without this, you would need to keep the app open all day and night. See all settings by going to Profile Page > Open System Settings.

Background Refresh is "On" but "Greyed-Out"

We require background refresh to be set to "On" to award points for steps periodically throughout the day and award points for time at Place of Self-Isolation. If you see that the toggle is "On" and "Greyed-Out", then you'll have to go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and turn it "On". This will turn it on for all apps, but you choose which apps you would like to turn it "On" for.

Health Data: Steps

We only request access to your step count to reward you for this! If you would like to turn it off, you can do so. If you want to turn it back on, you'll have to go to Settings > Privacy > Health > LifePoints and toggle it back on.

Low-Battery Mode

When this is "On" it will turn "Off" Background App Refresh, which might cause LifePoints to be unable to collect points while in the background.
